From Beneath is my fourth novel. I wrote the first draft during November 2006 as part of National Novel Writing Month. I wasn't entirely happy with how it went and have locked the whole thing in a drawer... will it ever see the light of day again? To be decided!
Gail is frightened when she has a premonition about her own death. At least, that's what she thinks the premonition is about...she soon realises that it concerns something less straightforward than that.
In order to find out more about the woman who Gail believes may have died in her place, she unwittingly lays herself open to danger and discovers a world that is not what it seems. Only the continuing premonitions keep her one step ahead of the game.
Gail has to confront her complex family past to save herself and her estranged little sister, who she had once given up for dead. She begins to realise that not only is her sister trying to keep her alive, but that she is also screaming for help. Help for herself and help for all the others who are trapped beneath. But will the powerful and perilous world her sister has fallen into silence her before she can prove what really happened?
